Holy Cow! When Did They Get So Big??

Here's a picture of Graham and Megan we took on our mini vacation last week. They're sitting on millstones at a flour mill in Neligh, NE.

Graham also celebrated his half birthday last week - complete with confetti cake, blue frosting and candles (always looking for any excuse to eat cake). 3 1/2 and quickly gaining on Mommy. He easily measures up to my chest.

The day he turned 3 1/2 he learned the question "why?," and has easily asked it 30 times a day since. Car rides with him are especially challenging to one's patience... "where home go?" "what that do?" "why?" Yesterday he asked a question about birds. I said, "Because God made it that way." Graham: "Why?" Mommy: "I don't know. You'll have to ask God." Graham: "God, why you make birds with toes? [And then he answers as God in a "God voice"] Because me like toes." He is a crack up, that Graham.

I'm savoring every big sloppy kiss, bear hug around the neck, and the enthusiastic greeting I receive when we've been apart for an hour. For now, he's still my baby boy, and he still likes it.

Unbelievable that my baby girl could possibly be seven months old! She is a curious little one who LOVES to play. Nobody makes her laugh like Graham can. She can't wait to get up on her own two legs and chase him around. I'll hold her under her arms and she pads her little feet one in front of the other as fast as she can as we "run" through the house after big brother. She laughs ecstatically when we catch him. We're waiting for the first tooth to show its pearly self. Seems like her mouth has been especially bothersome to her over the last few days. Makes for short naps, whiny afternoons, and restless nights. Her bright smiles and delighted screeches always make up for the trying moments though.
